In 2007 "The Range Life" produced the winning video application for the first annual IR Vacation to Hell. With incredible video footage of rivers in the Pacific Northwest and documentation of experience and confidence as a team, the Range Life’s winning application earned them an attempt the Rio Huallaga in Peru’s remote central Ande’s. The application was produced by Bryan Smith and filmed by Shane Robinson, Todd Gillman of the Reel Water Productions crew. On the ground in Peru the team documented their journey through Peru exploring the culture and attempt at uncovering the mysteries of what lay deep in the unexplored Huallaga Canyon.

After spending a week in the town of Huanaco, the team dropped into the river with only limited knowledge of what was ahead of of them other than what topos revealed. Knowing that a remote farming village trail followed the river losely some 5000 feet above was the back-up. Four days into the trip that team made the decison to leave the river due to the severity of the canyon that lay belew. The full details of the trip can be viewed on VTH Huallaga Blog. All the footage that The Range Life shot on there trip was edited by Anthony Peronne of Penstock Productions and produced on DVD. The winning application, the trailer for the film and the DVD can be purchased HERE. |
