The company now known as Kokatat was started in 1971 by a college student named Steve O’Meara with an eye towards making innovative outdoor gear. With Steve still at the helm, our company continues to dedicate itself to his original intent, offering the industry’s most extensive line of watersports wear and enjoying a deserved reputation for product quality and commitment to watersports. We’re located in the small northern California coastal town of Arcata, about 300 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Our very name, Kokatat, means “into the water” in one of the languages of the Native American people living along the local Klamath River.

We are located in Vancouver British Columbia on the door step of some of the best paddling in the world. We are fortunate to have everything from calm bays to some of the most rugged isolated coast line in the world. SNAP DRAGON DESIGN is proud to be more than a designer and manufacturer of kayak accessories. We are avid participants in the worldwide sport of kayaking. Our distinctive designs arise from personal experience as well as through feedback from our customers. We seek to improve performance and comfort with the latest construction features and materials.

We make our products in our humble shop just outside of Seattle Washington. From patterning, cutting, sewing and taping we are a hands on company. Rich Wilson started the company in the early 1980’s in his basement, at a time when there was a lack of kayaking accessories to satisfy his own kayaking needs. Mr. Wilson still spends half his day at the sewing machine.
